G30 M550i STAGE 2 DYNO AND PERFORMANCE TESTING

After getting our initial baseline dyno testing completed, we equipped our 2018 M550i with the following upgrades:

ARM N63R DOWNPIPES

ARM N63R INTAKE

ARM N63R CHARGE PIPES

BOOTMOD3 STAGE 2 93 OCTANE TUNE

With these upgrades installed we brought our car back to the dyno to see how much power it made. 

Overall power and torque felt massively improved and we expected to see a significant increase in both dyno numbers and performance results.  The acceleration and throttle response is vastly improved, there is a mountain of torque available at almost any RPM. Upgraded intake and exhaust systems not only contribute to the power increase but also ensure that the engine breathes more efficiently. 

The sounds coming from both the front and rear of the car are intoxicating.  The exhaust note is significantly more aggressive in Sport + mode with the downpipes installed and the wastegate swooshing coming from the front intakes gives something good to listen to no matter what the RPM is. 


 

DYNO RESULTS



On the best run the N63R was able to put down 494WHP and 539WTQ.  That is 82WHP and 64WTQ peak gain over the baseline run.  Surprisingly the largest gains we see are above 5,000RPM.  Typically we see the biggest gains occuring in the low to middle range of the RPM on stock turbo cars, N63R held relatively strong all the way to redline.  The largest torque gains were 5,100RPM and the power gains were strongest around 5,500RPM.

PERFORMANCE TESTING

Not surprisingly with the massive increase in power, the Stage 2 M550i outperformed its stock numbers by a healthy amount.  The Stage 2 upgrades shaved over .8 seconds off of the 0-60mph time, 1.1 seconds off the 1/4 mile time, and almost 3 seconds off the 60-130mph time.  To boot, in the Stage 2 1/4 mile test the M550i picked up 11MPH!
