The ARM MK7 GLI FMIC is one of the easiest intercooler upgrades to install for the MK7 GLI. Like every intercooler upgrade for the MK7 platform, it does require the removal of your front bumper, but unlike stock-location intercooler upgrades it does not require any disassembling of the radiator stack, or draining of the coolant. The ARM FMIC kit comes with MK7-specific mounting brackets to secure the FMIC without the need to cut or drill brackets into the crash bar. The full installation of the ARM MK7 FMIC only takes about 2-3 hours, even for the novice mechanic.
If you're running or plan on running an upgraded turbo on your MQB, you will want to opt for the ARM Bi-Cooler Hose Upgrade. The ARM Bi-Cooler Hose Upgrade allows you to utilize a stock location intercooler (OEM or upgraded) in conjunction with the ARM MK7 FMIC giving your MK7 improved cooling efficiency over the ARM MK7 FMIC alone. This is only recommended if you already have a turbo upgrade or plan on installing one in the near future as it can cause a slight pressure drop on the OEM IS20.
NOTE: DOES NOT FIT VEHICLES WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC) MOUNTED IN THE LOWER BUMPER. WILL FIT VEHICLES WITH ACC MOUNTED INTO VW EMBLEM.
YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE LOWER CRASH BAR ON MK7 GLI TO ACHIEVE PROPER FITMENT.

This was surprisingly easy to install! I have a GLi so that requires cutting off the lower crash bar and grinding off the ambient temperature sensor tab. The pre made brackets made hanging it very easy… After install, my IAT’s are down significantly and the car is breathing way better!! I’ve been on bigger turbo with stock intercooler for awhile and have never felt the car pull like it does now up top! Thanks ARM for this simple and efficient intercooler.
Great quality and finish. Car pulls noticeably harder and IAT’s are down to a few degrees above ambient. Can’t beat it for the price compared to other intercoolers.
The instructions say you can bend back the air sensor bracket, but I had to cut it off. Literally needed the extra cm of space. Taking off the bumper is the most uncomfortable part.
It wasn’t a hard install only issue I ran into was the bracket on the driver side wasn’t long enough to reach the location recommended, I had to put the screw in at a weird angle so hopefully cross threading didn’t happen, and I wish the instructions were a bit more favorable for the GLI. Other than that best bang for your buck and very great quality, Highly recommend!
