The ARM MK7 GLI Catted Downpipe is an essential upgrade if you're looking to get the most from your Gen 3 EA888 equipped GLI. The stock downpipe is built with a dense catalyst that hinders exhaust flow on your EA888 engine, causing higher back-pressure, increasing turbo lag and causing your turbo to work harder.
Replacing your OEM downpipe with the ARM MK7 GLI Downpipe will significantly improve exhaust flow, reducing the back-pressure generated by your turbocharger. The result of the increased exhaust flow is faster turbo spool, increased power and torque, and a nice improvement in exhaust note.
In addition, the improved exhaust flow will allow you to run increased boost targets found with Stage 2+ tuning software. Attempting to run Stage 2+ tuning files over 25psi with the stock downpipe can put excessive stress on your turbocharger and is not recommended. Most tuners require an upgraded downpipe to run their more aggressive tunes.

The laser-cut mounting bracket and CNC machined mounting prongs make for a precise fitment to your stock downpipe mounting points.
The ARM MK7 GLI Downpipe kit comes with both a 2.5" reducer to connect to the stock exhaust system, and a straight 3" adapter to connect to upgraded cat-back exhaust systems. This connection utilizes a CNC machined v-band system for connecting between the downpipe and adapter of your choice. The v-band is a superior connection type compared to a slip-fit or bolt on connection as it maintains a more study and reliable seal between the two ends.
The ARM MK7 GLI Catted Downpipe comes with a single 200 Cell High-Flow Catalyst to reduce emissions and exhaust odors commonly found with catless downpipes.

The ARM MK7 GLI Downpipe incorporates a stainless steel flex section between the turbo and mid-pipe mounting point. The addition of this flex section reduces tension on the turbocharger caused from torsion during hard acceleration, cornering, and braking.

So far, my experience has been amazing. I did a lot of research and question asking before making the decision to go with the ARM catted DP. At first, I was more than curious as to why it is so much less expensive than its contemporaries. However, after visiting several MK7 GLI forums, my fears were tempered as so many other GLI owners spoke highly of this product. So, I pulled the trigger and haven't looked back. The craftsmanship is very high quality. No concerns whatsoever. Installation was as easy as it could be when doing this on ramps. To be honest, getting the old one out was the hard part. Getting this one in and installed was pretty easy. So, after installing this DP along with a new intercooler and tuning the ECU to stage 2,my GLI has transformed once again. Now it's an experience. I also want to thank the people at ARM Motorsports for being so easy to work with!
Like others, the factory downpipe isn't designed to come out without frustration and four letter and longer words, but once you get past that farfaknugen the ARM catted pipe goes in freakishly easy. So easy I though I had messed something up, but no, I had installed the best downpipe for the money. I thoroughly inspected the downpipe and was pleased with the workmanship and quality of the welds. I was looking for why this pipe was half the cost of others but honestly I couldn't find anything that looks like corners were cut to reduce cost. The fit was perfect. Now the sound on mine was a little different than some might experience, I already had a Himholtz catback 3in exhaust. The sounds,even with the cat, caused me to add a resonator. Now what I thought was some other performance from the himholtz exhaust was definitely corrected because after the addition of this downpipe the car woke up. It is a night and a difference; between added torque, turbospool time, and definitely added horsepower. I cannot say enough about the quality of this downpipe and I have no idea why anybody would want to pay twice as much from another company for a downpipe. As a added benefit both two and 2.5 inch to stock exhaust and the 3-in adapter or beautifully welded with a stainless steel V-band clamps. Thanks guys for such a great affordable exhaust component.

Honestly this is probably the quickest company that sends parts. I got my downpipe for my 2019 mk7 Gli in 3 days from ordering and the install was very easy. Easy enough that you almost didn’t need the guide that came with it. I will be ordering more parts soon
The ARM downpipe was a very easy install once you get the stock down pipe off which requires some patience due to how large the catalytic converter is at the top end of the stock down pipe. Has to be wiggled around and manipulated to get it to clear the heat shields that are in the way pulling it out from the bottom of the car. I can tell a difference in performance with the ARM on the car and it also provides a nice exhaust note with the otherwise stock exhaust
